Meenmutty Falls is another breathtaking waterfall located in the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. It is a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by dense forests and picturesque landscapes. Meenmutty Falls is renowned for its impressive height and the mesmerizing beauty it offers to visitors.
The name “Meenmutty” translates to “Fish and Blocked” in the local language, referring to the fish that used to be blocked from ascending the waterfall due to its steep nature. The waterfall cascades down from a height of about 300 meters (984 feet) and is considered one of the largest and most magnificent waterfalls in the region.
To reach Meenmutty Falls, visitors need to undertake a trek through the lush green forests and rocky terrain. The trek is moderately challenging and takes around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on individual fitness levels. As you make your way through the trek, you will encounter captivating views of the surrounding valleys, streams, and wildlife.
Once you reach Meenmutty Falls, you will be greeted by the breathtaking sight of the waterfall plunging down into a pool below, creating a spectacular display of cascading water and mist.
